I stumbled into this industry quite accidentally. I started in college as a psychology major and sociology major and graduated, then decided to pursue a master's in public policy. I was working as a social worker at the time, and my thesis advisor said I needed an internship. And he said, there's a new executive director at Sacramento Regional Transit. Her name is Dr. Beverly Scott, she needs an intern. And I said, okay. So I threw my name in the hat and was hired, and I have not left transit since. You get into transit, you never leave. Why? Because I help people. My job is to help people, and that's so important to me. I want to give back to the community I live in. I want to improve people's lives, and I get to do that in this job, and it's very fulfilling, and it just makes me feel really good to affect people's lives in a positive way.
